2 DIE, 3 HURT IN RICHMOND SHOOTING

By Eric Louie
CONTRA COSTA TIMES

Two people died and three were wounded in a Saturday night shooting in Richmond's Iron Triangle section, Richmond police said today.

Officers in the area heard gunshots at 10:20 p.m. and found a man and woman down near the parking lot of a grocery store in the 300 block of Fourth Street, just north of Macdonald Avenue, said Richmond police Lt. Enos Johnson. The store is across from Nevin Park. Both victims had gunshot wounds to the upper body and were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other men were found shot with non-life threatening injuries nearby.

Police believe the assailants approached the victims in a dark car. Police have no information on what prompted the shooting. The Contra Costa Coroner's Office is withholding the victims' identities until their relatives are notified.

Irma, why don't you just respect yourself and not plan to seek re-election. This community does not want you....ever!

Today's Times has an article on a proposed ballot measure being pushed by Anderson. Not sure of all the particulars, but the mention is of $7 million from next year's budget going to RPD recruitment and anti-violence programs, without having to raise taxes (supposedly).

Thinking back to the language of "anti-violence program" proposals from various city agendas and minutes, I recall no mention of real programs. Just new layers of bureaucracy and committees, for consultations and studies, with nothing to mandate substantive change; i.e.: it doesn't constructively produce a de facto Violence Prevention Committee/Office/Department/etc.

As Irma herself says in the article: "It's a matter of political will and prioritizing."

    Indeed.

Irma shouldn't run but she will anyways. Who is there to elect instead? I'd like to know.

I guess the bottom line would be Gary Bell should be the next Mayor for Richmond!
