"It's Like The Old West..."

This comment came from a Richmond resident that The Tazer spoke to yesterday, when the topic of our safety and our communities came up...

Sadly, it seems that the violent tendencies we've become so familiar with have struck again: (Credit KTVU.com & Craig Debro)

Shocking Street Ambush Leaves Nurse Wounded
POSTED: 7:30 am PDT May 18, 2006

RICHMOND -- A 54-year-old nurse stopped at a Richmond street corner suffered a gunshot wound to her arm early Thursday when a gunman drove up behind her and riddled her car with bullets.

Police said the unidentified woman likely was not the target of the attack but merely "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The incident began at 2:25 a.m. when the nurse -- who had just gotten off from work and was driving to a nearby casino -- stopped at a stop sign on Cutting Blvd. and 37th in Richmond.
Police said a car drove up behind her and suddenly her car was being riddled with bullet holes. Luckily, the woman was only struck in the arm.

The woman -- who once lived in the area -- drove a few blocks to a friend's house and stumbled up to the front door. When the friend opened the door, the woman said she had been shot.

She was taken to a John Muir Hospital for treatment.

Police had few leads and no motive for the shooting.

Tazer Note: Luckily this innocent woman was not killed. But we must say again: City Hall and Mayor's office, when will this stop? What did you do at the City Council meeting Tuesday night? You discussed a lot of things (some actually important), but will it really matter if people are dying and bodies are piling up in the streets?

Stop the foolish pride and BS and talk with the various Violence Prevention agencies in our city and let's stop this madness before it's too late.

UPDATE: After a morning check in with Rev. Andre Shumake, The Tazer understands there was a shooting in North Richmond overnight as well. More on this as we get it.

The crooks aren't afraid. Anderson and the rudderless city council give them no reason to be.

Richmond "leadership," how much blood will it take?

This is just damn shame! These city people just don't care if these young bloods are down for the count!

Tell those people on the Council they need to move or lose it, because they got an election before them.
