More Well Placed Anger...

Tazer friend Inge Oliver has expanded on her inital anger over the Iron Triangle shooting. Honestly, the Tazer would like to actually see some of her questions and concerns addressed by the proper parties and would be willing to interview them in a feature on The Tazer. Here's Inge, unedited:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Still being in the state of shock, due to last night's homicide, I contacted several community leaders, discussing, what can be done immediately to stop this horrifying situation.

You want to keep your jobs, want to be re-elected, we, the community leaders/activists have someserious questions to you and want answers!

A) Why do you waste our tax-money for nothing but a 10-months survey, done by an Oakland Consultant?

TAZER NOTE: Damn Good Question!

B) Oakland's violent crime rate never was higher than in the last couple of years, indicating that Mr. Muhammad's Mentoring Center's success seems to be very poor, to say the least.

TAZER NOTE: OOPS! Is that ALL true?

C) Why are you so adamant to get Oakland's losers on the city's payroll? (Another example: Mr. Samuels)

TAZER NOTE: Is this the equivalent of being a "Hack" in major league baseball and trying to be a star in Japan?

D) Why do you, our elected officials refuse to do, what we, your constituency, are asking you to do, implementing programs for the local youth-at-risk, programs, that were introduced to you by the Richmond Improvement Association, a local organization?

Not only show these programs a tremendous success in other cities, RIA is way beyond the point of conducting surveys, they already have the necessary data, they know where and what needs to be done.

E) Why can Ms. Anderson's son, as well as her friend, Mr. McMillan "attack" outspoken community leaders, not once, but several times, and get away with it? I thought we are living in a Democracy, where elected officials an and should be held accountable for their mistakes!D) If any of you believe that you can use our money for your election campaign, (Consultant contract with the "Mentoring Center" = political pay-back) you are wrong, wasting our money for this survey will back-fire on you!

TAZER NOTE: At the risk of sounding overly PC, The Tazer would LOVE too see some info on the attacks of our community leaders, so that we can share with everyone.

Sincerely,

Inge Oliver

Many questions. All good. Let's reiterate these for easy access...

    1) What is the purpose of a 10-month survey, paid for with taxes, to a consultant from outside Richmond, that does not directly establish an Office of Violence Prevention?

    2) What were the particular criteria that led to the selection of The Mentoring Center?

    3) With those criteria in mind, was David Muhammad himself a factor?

    4) How much and what kinds of local input -- say from the RIchmond Improvement Association -- are utilized in decisions such as "at-risk" programs and the OVP?

    5) Are young Mr. Anderson and Mr. McMillian unelected, unappointed agents of the city council that do not have to answer for their rhetoric?

    6) Is the consultant contract to TMC a "quid pro quo" in this election cycle?

Well, city of Richmond, GOT ANSWERS?

Are we leading by example here, brothers? How are we to tell young people not to be violent when we are so woefully divided.

Kinda makes you think about who is really for the youth...

"anonymous," there's violence, there's division, then there's difference of opinion.

The example I aim to set is that ideas are important enough to debate vigorously WITHOUT violence. Politics is just such an arena, where opposing sides -- hopefully -- can offer intellectual defense for their agenda. May the stronger ideas win.

Not knowing the difference between the internal struggle of minds and the external struggle of bodies is a far more woeful -- and mentally lazy -- division. Debate and discussion is the externalization and presentation of the internal. From mere disagreement, must violence follow? Violence without consideration of consequences is mankind's eternal burden, a weakness we have yet to overcome in a uniform manner. And yet, we do not ALL harm each other.

Who is for youth? Who is for the old? Who is for the rich? Who is for the poor? Who is for one race/ethnicity/religion? Who is for another race/ethnicity/religion? These questions are unimportant; they are themselves describing divisions.

More important: What is the right thing to do? Who will step up to do what is right? And what do we do about those who will not do what is right?

I believe that the Boycott against the City of Richmond is taking it's toll. The Violence Prevention Movement Boycott shall not and will not go away, until the Mayor, City Council and others make a buy-in with the Movement! NO MORE DEATHS, NO MORE KILLINGS! NO MORE VIOLENCE!

Yours in the Struggle for Human and Civil Rights in Richmond,

    Micheal Ali

You have a right to your opinion, but it is not clear to many that what the intent of the boycott is other than adding gas to some sparks,-- is that the intent? The folks at the hall don't appear to be concerned.

Maybe I'm wrong but as I understand it a boycott is social, economic, or political noncooperation.

When the Montgomery Bus boycott was organized it was in protest and resistance of unfair practices. They didn't use it as a bully pulpit. It was a means to have open communication with oppressors of an unjust system to change a law or policy.

Far be it from me to pass judgment on anyone's right to protest, but I'm not real clear what the objective is except to oppose any plan that isn't that hasn't been rubber stamped by the "movement".What is keeping you from sharing your ideas with anybody and working with other groups on this issue?

Progress is about being involved in the process. If that's the aim then good luck to everybody. If not, then I wish you double luck---You will need it.

Wonder where some of these anonymous comments come from? The ones that try to put the blame on anyone who speaks out? That try to say society is the problem? That try to say it's all about families and changes of heart? That say the city council is trying its best or that they can't do everything or that protest isn't part of the process of helping the council? That basically diverts attention from where it belongs: on the city council and the mayor?

Look no further than pages 9 and 10 of the February 15, 2005 regular meeting minutes: http://www.ci.richmond.ca.us/cityclerk/Minutes%202005/CC05FEB15.pdf

"Ahmad Anderson, son of Mayor Anderson, stated his concerns for the direction of the City of Richmond. He stated that as citizens of the City of Richmond, everything that happens in the city is relevant, individuals should not be singled out and everyone needs to stand up for their city."

Mayor's Anderson's son using political thuggery in a dark parking lot at the Richmond City Hall? Harrassing and threatening a senior citizen? The City Hall covering up the fact that it happened? The police on duty that for the Council meeting did not arrest or least have complaint on file regarding Ahmad "Thug" Anderson?

Anderson will use any tactics of polticial repression, including her own son Ahmad Anderson as a POLITICAL THUG!!!!!!!!!!!!

No use B-Legit. Nobody listens to reason here. If you disagree you become the enemy. Where's J Edgar Hoover when you need him?

Open your hymnals...I don't mind that some folks don't like that I said this is a heart problem. I don't expect everybody to listen, but I think it is fair to pose the point that if we really are for peace, we need to reflect that in the way we deal with each other. I'm just very weary of all the bickering. I hope that we can turn it around and do the work that I know this community needs.

I guess the love of Christ must be a powerful thing that it is so reviled. But remember God said if thay hated the son, they will hate you too.

Friend, I ain't trying to push religion on you but the love of Christ will can set you free and will be the only thing that heals this community.

As the kids say its all good. I thought that by posting here that maybe I could share and exchange on this board, but maybe I was wrong. Thanks to the Tazer for trying to encourage a two sided debate. I do appreciate it. I still love you all, and hope we can work together to help the youth. Maybe I will try another time.
